Poster 1 Development

One thing that was lacking in my mock up for interim was that it didn't look distinctly 'New Zealand', which is part of the brief. So I've been researching and practising New Zealand plants as well as messing around with different headlines to make the message clearer and more impactful.

In developing my thumbnails I'm also thinking more about values and visual flow, using the poster itself to direct the eye down to the sleeping person, rather than relying on lighting.

In class I looked through a book of old New Zealand advertisements for inspiration. I might look into basing the "outdoors" poster on some of these old outdoorsy ads. I especially like the colours.

Fay suggested going back to portrait orientation, since that's the norm for these posters, so I'm doing some more quick thumbnails to see what works best.

Some of these are combining elements from my other concepts which I no longer plan on using, such as the bus stop. I've also been doing more research for copy text, which I have been adding onto this post.
